Privacy policy
Plug and Tux (https://plugandtux.com) is run by Peter Bucko, a private individual in Hungary, who is the data controller for this site. Contact: privacy@plugandtux.com.
The short version
- No accounts, no cookies, no tracking or analytics, no ads (yet).
- Search and the
lsusblookup run entirely in your browser. What you type or paste is never sent to us. - If you send a report through the form, we keep what you wrote, not who you are.
When you browse
The site is served by Cloudflare, Inc. To deliver pages and protect against abuse, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as your IP address, browser user agent and the page requested. We don't receive or store these request logs ourselves. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
When you send a report
The report form stores: the page you reported, the problem type, your description, the distro you entered (if any), the time, and the country your request came from (as detected by Cloudflare). Your IP address is used only in scrambled (hashed) form for a one-minute rate limit to stop spam, then discarded. It is not stored with your report.
Reports are held in Cloudflare's storage until our nightly job copies them into a private issue tracker on GitHub (GitHub, Inc.), at most 30 days. There they're kept as long as they help fix the data. Please don't put personal information in the description. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the data accurate (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Where data is processed
Cloudflare and GitHub are US companies and may process data outside the EU. Both rely on the EU鈥揢S Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for such transfers.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of data about you, object to processing, or restrict it. Email privacy@plugandtux.com. Because reports don't include who sent them, tell us roughly when you sent one and what it said so we can find it. You can also complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, NAIH, or the authority in your own EU country.
Changes
If the site starts using analytics, ads or affiliate links, this page will be updated first, and anything that needs your consent will ask for it before it runs.
